World Bicycle Day is celebrated on June 3rd every year. The day is marked for spreading awareness about bicycles and its benefits. The bicycle, as a symbol of human progress and advancement, "[promotes] tolerance, mutual understanding and respect and [facilitates] social inclusion and a culture of peace." The bicycle further is a "symbol of sustainable transport and conveys a positive message to foster sustainable consumption and production and has a positive impact on climate.

To mark this occasion, Chennai Cyclists is proud to announce the Chennai Cyclothon, an event to encourage participants of all ages, including children who want to step into the world of cycling and make it a part of their daily menu. Mass Cyclothon is now Chennai Cyclothon.
